Help Tween Girls Choose the Types of Clothing to Wear

Whether you are going shopping with your tween girl or she already has a ton of clothing in her closet, she may not know how to select what to where and when. There are a few tips and ideas to help her know what to wear and when, making dressing in the morning much easier.

Plan

Many times, the morning rush for school or activities can make it difficult to get dressed. Consider planning your outfit the day before, where you can spend more time and get just the look you are going for, which will make things easier.

If you have many of the same items, such as jeans and tee shirts, consider pairing items together in the closet so you can grab and go in the morning. Having all of your clothing paired together makes things easier.

When planning tomorrow’s outfit, make sure you think about where you will be going and what the weather is like. If you are going hiking with friends and it will be muddy and raining, you don’t want to wear a white tee shirt and shorts. You may do better with a comfortable pair of jeans that can get dirty and a long-sleeved but light shirt.

Wardrobe Checks

Tween girls can be hard on their clothing, so it is important to periodically go through the closet and get rid of items that no longer fit or are torn. Of course, having one “grunge” outfit is always a good idea, in case there is painting or other dirty housework to be done, but most of the clothes should be in good condition.

Comfort

Comfortable clothing doesn’t have to be sweats and tee shirts, especially for dates and other important times. However, whatever outfit you do select to wear should feel comfortable when you put it on. If it is a little too tight at the waist, the entire night you will be pulling at it and trying to loosen it just a bit, meaning you won’t be enjoying yourself.

Acceptance

While you may worry when you go up a few sizes, this doesn’t mean you are becoming overweight. It may just mean that you are growing taller and that your hips are widening out. This is normal and trying to wear clothing that doesn’t fit will not change that or make you feel any better about yourself.
